A FIRST SESSION
Read, play, then review.
Learn the notes
- How to read guitar sheet music for beginners
Start with the treble staff, open strings and the guitar’s octave convention.
- First-position guitar notes: chart and practice
Find natural notes on a small fretboard range, read an example and try that range in the trainer.
Set up a clear single note
Use standard tuning. Select your microphone and stay quiet during the noise check. Play one note rather than a chord. Use the live pitch check if the detected pitch seems unexpected; the app lets you adjust input sensitivity and the A4 reference.
Follow the position prompt
The regular trainer shows a natural note and a broad position. Continuous mode names a string and fret. The microphone only checks pitch: playing the same note elsewhere does not verify the intended fingering.
For example, an open sixth string sounds E2 but is written E3 in guitar notation. A written E3 prompt is therefore not a request to tune that string an octave higher.
Review the first response
Look at first-try accuracy and response time, not only whether you eventually found the note. A correct response after a mistake is useful practice, but it tells you something different from immediate recall.
The continuous-mode map combines correctness, relative response time, forgetting and limited evidence into a practice priority. A high value is a reason to revisit a location, not an exact probability of playing it wrong.
Keep or discard a session
End a session to keep its completed practice. Discard removes the current session from the relevant practice history. Records belong to this browser and device; they do not follow you automatically to another device or domain.
